Customized Communications Training for Businesses and Individuals

You have to present your PowerPoint to the board. You have to make a pitch to potential investors. You have to give the ultimate wedding toast.
If any of these scenarios turns your stomach upside down, you're not alone. Every day, hundreds of thousands of people with the intelligence, empathy, and power to change the world botch an opportunity because they're afraid to speak out loud. They're afraid of public speaking, the most intractable of human fears.
But don't be fooled by its bad rap. Public speaking is a performance art that can be practiced, stylized, and thoroughly enjoyed.
Miles away from a traditional textbook approach, theater director and communications instructor Stephen Kaliski has co-founded UPRIGHT // OUTLOUD, an innovative group that reinvents public speaking as a thrilling creative act. With an emphasis on the following core principles, speakers will quickly learn to take charge of once frightening scenarios:
- Storytelling: The most easily digestible feature of communication.
- Organization and Pacing: Listening is much harder than reading. Airtight organization and deliberate pacing will help your audience stay with you.
- Personality: Don’t dilute your natural self. Let your personality shine through.
- Credibility: Recognize your initial credibility, and work to increase it during the presentation.
- Preparation: The biggest contributor to bad speaking is inadequate preparation.
- Message: This is not about you. It’s about what you’re saying.
- Joy: Bring to the table the same joy you feel when telling a funny story to your friends.

"Stephen's creative public speaking workshops gave our staff at The Alzheimer's Association, NYC Chapter, accessible and innovative strategies for becoming more confident, natural communicators. I was pleased to observe how quickly members of the team integrated storytelling and organization into their presentations after only a couple of days of working with him. He's a great choice for any business looking to develop staff presentation skills." Lou-Ellen Barkan, President & CEO, Alzheimer’s Association, NYC Chapter
